Transportation

The Regional Transit Authority and the Capital Area Transit System have developed an operational plan to meet the transportation demands of people displaced due to Hurricane Katrina, including an expansion of services in and around Baton Rouge and a Park-n-Ride regional service.

Local Public Transit


The Regional Transit Authority and the Capital Area Transit System have developed an operational plan to meet the transportation demands of people displaced due to Hurricane Katrina, including an expansion of services in and around Baton Rouge and a Park-n-Ride regional service.

The RTA is considering establishing a free fare passenger policy for the time being.

Due to the evacuation of the city, there is no public transportation currently running in New Orleans.

Roads and Bridges

Interstate 10 is now fully open to the public.
 
The Causeway is now fully open to the public; tolls have been suspended.

Highway 11 bridge is now open.

Driving

Traffic lights are out throughout the city. Observe a city-wide speed limit of 35 mph, and treat all intersections as four-way stops.

Ferry Service

Ferry services have been suspended until further notice.
