Avondale Shipyard :: http://www.fas.org/man/company/shipyard/avondale.htm
Avondale Shipyard was an independent shipbuilding company, acquired by Litton Industries, in turn acquired by Northrop Grumman Corporation. Now, along with the former Ingalls Shipbuilding, the yard is known as Northrop Grumman Ship Systems.
Northrop Grumman Ship Systems
Northrop Grumman Ship Systems (NGSS) is the division of Northrop Grumman Corporation responsible for building small and medium shipping products. Another division of Northrop Grumman, Northrop Grumman Newport News, is responsible for nuclear submarines and supercarriers.
NGSS consists of the former Ingalls Shipbuilding and Avondale Shipyard companies.
NGSS repaired the USS Cole after it was damaged in an attack in Yemen.
