| Several Kingsport churches are joining together to send a tractor-trailer load of supplies to the areas affected by Hurricane Katrina. Needed items include: bottled and jugged water; pull-top canned food; plastic spoons; hand sanitizer; unscented bleach; diapers (baby and adult sizes); feminine supplies; washcloths, towels, and new and gently used blankets; garbage bags; toilet paper; paper towels; and Ziploc bags. Monetary donations will also be accepted. Please bring items to First Assembly of God on Brandon Lane in Kingsport Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. or Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.. | St. Louis-based financial-services firm Edward Jones has made contributions totaling more than $1 million to aid the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The firm will donate $250,000 directly to the American Red Cross and an additional $750,000 to Red Cross relief efforts in communities where Edward Jones branches are located. | Charter Communications is providing Internet and cable TV service to the Kingsport Red Cross hurricane relief shelters in the Kingsport Civic Auditorium and the old Keystone School Building in Johnson City. The Internet service will allow evacuees access to e-mail, and the cable TV will provide entertainment and information for the people staying in the shelters. | |

| Downtown Kingsport Association has announced a portion of proceeds from its upcoming Sam Bush concert will be donated to the Red Cross in its effort to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Bush, one of the world's most renowned mandolin players, will perform Saturday on the chamber of commerce lawn in downtown Kingsport as part of the DKA's Harvest Fare festival. Tickets to the concert are $10 in advance or $12 at the gate. Bush will also present a mandolin workshop at 3 p.m., and a price of $20 includes the workshop and a concert ticket. | Love Chapel Christian Church and Todd Love of Erwin Motors have stationed a trailer in the Food Lion parking lot. They will be collecting supplies such as food, bedding, clothing, toiletries and baby items today and tomorrow. There will be someone at the trailer to accept donations from 11:45 until 1 p.m. and then this evening from 4:30 until 6:30. Those drop-off times are for both today and tomorrow. | Happy Valley High School will be holding a water drive for the victims of the hurricane. Donations of water or money to purchase bottled water can be delivered to Happy Valley High School in Elizabethton between 8 am and 3 pm Tuesday through Friday. High school students will load the water on Friday evening. | |

| The Bristol Mall will be collecting new socks and undergarments for the hurricane victims beginning Monday. These items will be distributed directly to the storm victims through the Mall's corporate headquarters in Alabama. | Heritage Baptist Church in Johnson City is loading a tractor trailer with canned goods, bottled water, razors, shaving cream, toothbrushes and paste, charcoal, and bug repellant. The truck will leave for Mississippi on Friday. Heritage Baptist is located across from Science Hill High School. | |

| 100 victims of Hurricane Katrina will be housed at the old Power Board Building in Johnson City. They need cleaning supplies, deodorants, pillows, blankets, toothpaste and brushes, soap, and bedding.
